Saudade: Portuguese ( pron. saw dad )  the recollection of feelings, experiences, places or events that once brought excitement, pleasure, or well-being, which now triggers the senses and makes one live again. 

Saudade doesn’t have a real English translation, but once I learned of it, I realized that I’d long needed this exact word to describe an emotion I often feel. It is the one word at the heart of what drives me to make pictures.

I hope the images I post here will evoke a bit of saudade in those who visit.
