Deborah Candeub

Photography is my perfect medium. It allows me to preserve the poignant and evanescent moments that make me acutely aware of the beauty of our everyday life - a familiar, fleeting expression that cuts straight to the core of a loved one, a gesture that demonstrates a heartfelt connection, or even a beam of light that colors everything differently, and a little magically, just for an instant. These are the pictures I love to make.

When pushed to give my style a name, I'd call it a mash up of fine art and documentary. I prefer to observe, rather than direct, as my objective is to catch the beauty and poetry of my subjects' reality, rather than one of my own design.

I am available for commission and editorial work in the Washington DC metropolitan area. If you have a project on which you'd like to work with me, I would love to hear from you.

Deborah Candeub writes about pictures for the blog Viewfinders and is a member of the Film Shooters Collective. Her work has been included in juried shows, and been featured on numerous photography sites. Her images are available for license through Getty and Arcangel Images.
