Houses hold the stories of those of who have inhabited them, and neighborhoods give us a sense of place.
The residential neighborhoods of Arlington, Virginia, a close-in suburb to Washington, DC. have been in the throes of rapid redevelopment for the past decade and a half.
In that time whole neighborhoods have been transformed, and continue to be, through infill construction, leaving no clue behind to the individual stories or the larger history of this place.
I have been making photos of the vernacular architecture of Arlington since 2012, trying to stay one step ahead of the wrecking ball, in an effort to hold onto these stories.
