Taking pictures of butterflies has become an annual practice for me - not unlike meditation. It requires patience, stillness, and a singular focus that serves as an antidote from my usual routines.


Most of these images were made in my backyard, planted increasingly, especially for their benefit.


I prefer to photograph butterflies on film, and many of these images were made with film cameras.  I find that film helps me slow down just a bit more, which helps me to better keep time with the butterflies.
